Supporting Carers
A carer is someone of any age who provides unpaid support to family or friends who could not manage without this help. This could be caring for a relative, partner or friend who is ill, frail, disabled or has mental health or substance misuse problems.
ACCG provides free, practical and emotional support to help you continue in your caring role. Our services are for unpaid carers of all ages. We’ll help you increase your resilience, build on your existing skills and introduce new ones. We also support you to look after your own health and wellbeing and provide opportunities for you to meet and socialise with others.
Respite is temporary care for individuals when their normal carers are not available. Respite helps carers to remain in employment and have much needed rest which supports their caring role.
ACCG’s Support includes:
Respite
Carer health and wellbeing
Carer support groups and activities
Carers or people with mental health issues
Education training and carers in employment
Older carers including carers of people with dementia

Young Carers

ACCG leads a Partnership (Carers Manchester Central) to support the needs of carers. Our partners are ACMHS, LMCP, Alzheimer’s Society, Himmat, Stroke Association, TDS.
