We are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for an experienced Welfare Rights Advisor to join the ACCG, a registered charity providing culturally appropriate health and social care services to Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic people in Manchester.

About the role

Supporting older adults, their families and Carers predominantly from African Caribbean and South Asian Communities to deal with the issues causing them financial hardship.

The support provided will offer clients practical assistance, advice and information to maximise their income and to ensure they are receiving the correct benefit entitlements of the state welfare system.

The focus will also be on providing energy advice and support to access any available measures to address fuel poverty.

Providing practical assistance with the processing of claims, including form filing and dealing with correspondence on behalf of people experiencing financial hardship.

About you

  • The successful candidate will possess NVQ level 2 or equivalent
  • You must have the ability to work in a manner that facilitates inclusion, particularly of people from diverse communities, along with an understanding of the need for service user confidentiality.
  • You will be speaking to people at all levels across your area so excellent communication, networking and influencing skills are also essential.
  • You will have experience of face-to-face service delivery, a good understanding of statutory and voluntary services, ensuring independence, choice and control for all those who access our service.
  • You must also have the ability to manage several tasks at once and keep yourself motivated to perform under pressure.
  • Good IT skills and experience working with databases are also essential.

Create a varied and stimulating programme of activities that will enhance service users mental and physical
wellbeing.
About the role
You will develop, plan and implement meaningful activities while taking into consideration the needs and
wishes of individuals.
You will encourage participation of service users, staff members and volunteers
You will ensure that the service delivered promotes the independence, dignity, rights and choices of the
people with whom we work.
You will supervise and participate in group activities.
You will organise and promote themed events based on special days, dates and traditions.

About you
➢ Level 2 in Health and Social Care or equivalent qualification is essential
➢ Experience of working with and supporting older people providing an activities-based service
➢ Good verbal communication / language skills
➢ Ability to prepare, record and complete all relevant documents for service users and colleagues in a

About the role The Role

We are looking for an exceptional individual who is enthusiastic, motivated, and highly professional who would like to be part of our team. You will support the Chief Executive with strategic plans, development and expansion of services for the community. You will have the expertise, commitment, and values to make a real difference to the lives of older people with care and support needs. You will develop and sustain positive and trusting relationships with local authority and NHS commissioners, VCSE partners, professionals, and other agencies.

Your busy, varied, and responsible role will involve:

Developing and implementing strategies that impact the lives of African Caribbean people to bring about improvement in their overall health and wellbeing through support which improves access to Mental Health Services, Health Promotion Services and increase community engagement and connections for service users.

Networking with stakeholders and VCSE agencies, particularly within the Trafford locality to address the issue of health inequalities experienced by African Caribbean People.

Developing materials that will bring about greater awareness of the pathway and post diagnostic support available in the community for people living with dementia. Being accountable for ensuring the effective day-to-day running of ACCG services.

Monitoring performance and financial information to achieving key service improvements.

To be considered, you must be in possession of a fully enhanced DBS check, issued within the last year or registered to the online update service.

About you

• Degree in Health & Social Care/Management or Management qualification or equivalent knowledge

• 3 years proven management and leadership experience in health care

• Significant experience of working with people with long term health conditions and their Carers

• Ability to provide effective leadership

• Excellent Financial management and fundraising skills

• Ability to manage and update social media platforms

• Experience of promoting supporting change and development in an organisation

• Ability to respond to new challenges

• Good communication skills

• The ability to prioritise workloads, meet deadlines and solve problems

• Ability to work as part of a team and to work confidently and sensitively with a wide range of people.

Background

ACCG are working in partnership with LMCP and ACMHS plus other associates to
deliver carers services in the Central Manchester Locality. Our aim as a partnership
is to promote the Carers Pathway within our local communities and to identify unpaid
carer’s from BAME backgrounds early on in their caring role and support them to
access carer’s services.

About the Role
We are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity to join the ACCG and partner
organisations in the role of Carer’s Service Link Worker. You will be required to work
in a team to identify unpaid carers in Central Manchester and support them to
access available Carer’s services. You will develop and maintain relationships with
other VCS organisations within Central Manchester, as well as individuals and
statutory services that support Carer’s. You will have experience in supporting those
from underrepresented groups, in particularly those from an African Caribbean or
South Asian background.
