ACCG Fundraising Gala Dinner 2015
Our 2015 fundraising gala dinner at Lancashire Cricket Club was a great success, greatly enjoyed by all who attended. Guests enjoyed a magnificent three course meal, followed by entertainment from Millicent Stephenson, Da Bridge and DJ Mello.
Mr Tony Lloyd, Greater Manchester Police and Crime Commissioner and Interim Mayor of Greater Manchester celebrated with us. He congratulated and thanked the African Caribbean Care for our valuable contribution to the community saying…
“If the African Caribbean Care Group did not exist today we would have to invent it as the number of people needing this type of support has grown.”
The Mayor of Trafford, Councillor John Holden, congratulated the achievements of the African Caribbean Care Group for “working as a large effective family supporting our community for 32 years.”
Ms Lucy Powell MP for Manchester Central pledged to support the ACCG to stay in Hulme and Moss Side. In congratulating us, she said “never has the work of the Care Group been more needed. With an ever increasing aging population, with people living longer and longer who need that support and care. Also the local government support, the social care that local government used to provide, much of which is going too. Charities are needed more than ever to fill that gap.” She wished us all the best with our fund raising efforts.
She went on to say “The devolution of Health and Social Care to Greater Manchester provides an opportunity for organisations like the African Caribbean Care Group to transform the way in which we build partnerships and collaborations, which is the way in which the ACCG is working today. It provides a real opportunity, with new powers coming to Manchester to empower communities in Hulme, Moss Side and across Greater Manchester, for charities like yourselves to really take on a leadership role with some of the challenges we face.” She congratulated us again on our fund raising efforts.
